Bobbie Tomato

Bobbie Tomato

One of the great qualities that our line of oxhearts have is that they can be great all purposed tomatoes. Bobbie tomato ia a special one of those.  It’s not a large tomato such as Curtis Cheek or  Hungarian Heart, but it’s not a small tomato either.  It’s actually a great size for those who do not like their tomatoes too large or small.  It’s a great slicing tomato and a pretty color too!

Bobbie Tomato Vines

Bobbie tomato vines are wispy, indeterminate and can be quite tall.  My vines are usually about 5-6 feet tall.  They bear clusters of 4 or 5 really heart shaped, deep pink tomatoes, that average about 8-16 ounces.  Vines do excellently with early and late blight and produce a really good crop until frosts kills the vines.  They are very hard workers, so if you never grew tomatoes before, this may be a good place to start.

Bobbie Tomato Taste

Bobbie Tomato is sweet with a little bit of a firmer flesh than the average red oxheart.  This makes it a better tomato for slicing than some others in its family.  It’s a well balanced tomato, with sweets and acids blending into a tomato lovers dream.  There is some fruitiness here too, which sets Bobbie apart from most of the oxhearts that we grow.  Bobbie is a great slicer that would also be good for salads, sandwiches and fresh eating.  Try some of our freshly packed Bobbie tomato seeds in your next garden and let us know what you think.  Happy tomato growing!!
