After promising to grow this variety for each of the last 7 years, I finally grew them out in 2018. What took me so long? Pantano Romanesco tomato is a superb variety in every way. Additionally, it is pretty early. Smooth, oblate, 6-10 fruits ripen to a very nice red that is just head turning. Plants are hardy and not too tall. Surprisingly, this is a very good sauce maker. It's also great for sandwiches. I highly recommend this as a main crop for market vendors. It worked very well for us. Sweetish, juicy and satisfying is how I would describe its taste. -
The prettiest of pink tomatoes, this Chinese slicer is perfect inside and out. Five to six feet tall vines produce 4-6 ounce, very clean tomatoes that would work perfectly for market sales and as a main crop. Plants are especially disease free and are hard workers. Tomatoes have a nice smooth balance but, true to the Chinese varieties that we have grown, are still on the sweet side. This is not a fancy tomato, just a straight up good one! -
Pomodor Pero Gigante Tomato
It really doesn't mater that the tomato is not purple because it's excellent! Purple Dog Creek is a 1 pound slicer that works well for many applications. This well balanced fruit has flavor that will quickly get you hooked! It's not too sweet, acidic, juicy of mild. It's just perfect! Flesh has a really nice, smooth texture. Vines are hardy and seem to love hotter weather! Go for it! -
Norcarlina Pink Tomato was discovered in 1999 at a local farmers market and seeds shared. Some have said that it was a renamed variety but at this time there is uncertainty about that. This large pink beefsteak is a delight. It is mild and sweeter with pink flesh with tempting aroma. Texture is also very good and this one is medium firm when ripened. As far as production, that is very good also, making it a god choice for market vendors, which is where it was discovered in the first place. Plants are about 5-6 feet tall and vibrant. They begin to ripen their fruits about 80 days after being transplanted in their final growing spot. These are perfect sandwich companions with really awesome flavor! The next move is yours!! -
Seeds gifted to me by a friend, Ideal tomato is a small slicing variety that is the perfect all purpose variety. The first things that comes to mind is tomato stew, market sales and cooking. Taste is kind of old fashioned, medium mild with good overall balance. This variety is not timid as far s production. Our plants just kept pumping them out. I just wished I had the time to harvest more. Regular leafed plants grew to about 6 feet tall and were always loaded. These were pretty early too, starting to ripen around 72 days from transplant. Honestly, I am not sure that I grew a more useful variety in 2021. If you need is for a tomato that's not too large, one that can cover many bases, this is a great choice! -
Giant Kalian Tomato
A very pleasing tomato, Giant Kalian tomato took me by surprise this year. Our plants were really vibrant and disease-free. I really loved production also. These produced quite nicely until late in the season. Fruits were between 8 and 16 ounces, pink shinned and very, very good! These even tasted good when not fully ripened. They remind me somewhat of Dester tomato, which, to me is one of the best beefsteaks ever! These are perfect for anything, really! Sandwiches will shine when you use this variety! Give it a shot! -
Burgurland's Triumph Tomato
Burgurland's Triumph tomato is an early variety that's perfect for canning, sauces, juicing and more. I am happy that I grew these out because they made some great juice and surprisingly nice sauce too. Short plants produce heavily and early enough to get me started snacking in the garden without haven to wait too long. Fruits are a little bigger than a ping pong ball and have a wonderful aroma. Good disease resistance and hardy too. Softish texture, sweeter, smooth and satisfying. Good experience for me! -
Vineyard Wine Tomato
I was gifted seeds for Vineyard Wine tomato by my friend form NYC. He also gifted me Alfonsi's Big Pink Beefsteak. Not sure what to expect, I planted two plants. What I were rose pink, very beautiful, slightly bigger than golf ball sized fruits that were rich and tasty. I have to admit, these do not taste like wine, but their colors is stunning. They are sweet, with nice tartness and not mild. Very consistent tomato taste! In a nutshell, they are delicious. Perfect for cooking, eating fresh, sauces and even sliced in salads. I like this tomato a lot. 6-8 averaged one pound. Prolific plants, very hardy variety! -
Triumph Tomato
Pretty 3-4 ounce fruits are fire-truck red when ripened. Triumph tomato is a determinate variety that produces excessively. Early ripening, these are perfect for salads, canning, fresh eating, cooking and more. So truly, it's an all purpose variety. Great selection for market sales. Mild, slightly acidic and forward taste. I enjoyed making fresh tomato salsa with these. Onions, jalapeños, cilantro, limes, salt and black pepper and tomatoes, of course. 70 Days. Manx Marvel is a small round tomato that ripens red. It slightly acidic and on the milder side. Fruits bear in clusters of 5 or so. perfect little slicing tomato. Vines are very disease resistance and production is early. I like these for fresh salsa and eating off the vine. Delicious! -
Big Orange From Amuz Tomato
Pretty and blemish-free, yellow tomatoes are oblate and delicious. These are not really large. Our biggest was about 10 ounces but most fruits were between 6 and 8 ounces. Big Orange From Amuz tomato is a keeper for us. I really loved how abundant it was in 2019. Plants produced prolifically and pretty early too. Our first ripened fruits came in around 70-75 days, making it one of the earliest in the garden. Taste is sweet and mild with a nice fruity finish. Plenty juice on these. One of my favorite new varieties in 2018, Scarlett heirloom tomato has found a regular spot in annual rotation. This very memorable tomato is pretty, tasty and multi-purposed. I mainly used it for cooking and sauces. It also performed well when sliced, and on sandwiches, dehydrating and even market sales. .Four to five foot plants produce plenty, bright red, oblate tomatoes that weigh about 6-8 ounces. These are neither mild or loud, not sweet or acidic! Great aroma and a perfect slicer! Try dehydrating some, you may love the results. I recommend this tomato for your garden. Dwarf Pink Passion tomato reminds me more of a true fruit instead of a tomato. It possesses a personality all of its own and can truly inspire passion! 3 feet tall vines are hardy and produce a good amount of pale pink, aromatic fruits. If you love your tomatoes softer, juicy, fruity, and rich, this tomato will give you that experience. That's not all, sandwiches shine with Pink Passion as their companion. A little mayonnaise, black pepper, salt, olive oil, and perhaps some fresh basil, and your sandwich is good to go. Fruits begin to ripen about 80 days after transplant and plants must be staked. These babies can reach 8 ounces. Surprisingly, Pink Passion tastes great even when not fully ripened. -
You will never be disappointed if you made sauce or salsa with these. Chuhloma Chukhloma tomatoes were made for these two applications and more! I dried many in the dehydrator and made yellow powder, that was excellent too! 6 foot tall indeterminate vines produce perfectly elongated fruits with green shoulders. Fruits are sweet and meaty with average juice. Expect your first ripened fruits around the 75 day mark. These do well in mist conditions and are determined to produce! Good Disease resistance. Emerald Evergreen tomato is a beautiful ( six to ten ounce) fruit that ripens green. Packed with outstanding fruity flavors, this winner is perfect for sandwiches, green tomato sauce, salsa and slicing. Vines are six feet tall, vibrant and productive. Fruits ripen starting around the 80 day mark. when sliced, Emerald Evergreen is bright green inside and very aromatic. Be sure to stake these well and check fruits for ripeness. When ripened, it's outside is yellowish green. Happy Growing! -
A very nice, larger sized cherry, Pink Ping Pong tomato is certainly a great snack, especially or anyone wanting a milder variety with good flavor. These are milder, sweet and slightly fruity. Pretty light pink fruits are produced on 6 feet tall plants. Production is good to excellent. Perfect variety for snacking, salads, canning and cooking. Can be a good farmers marked variety. Certainly worth growing and I will grow them again! -
Welcome to Tuckwood Favorite Tomato. This one is not very common, but having grown it, I wish that more fanciers would. Actually, it has become one of Curtis' favorites. Tall, vibrant plants produce heavily from mid-season until frost. Tomatoes are bright red and delicious. Not sweet or tart, Tuckwood Favorite has excellent, balanced, old time flavor. Dujon Burr Tomato
I am so happy that I grew these out. This rare variety is a great little slicer. They also do great as canners and juice tomatoes. A new addition to our rare variety list, Dujon Burr tomato plants are determinate and just do their thing. Plants have very good production, with good disease resistance to back that up! These started ripening about 72 days after transplant. When fully ripened, Dujon Burr is bright red, juicy and have overall good balance. Nice selection for such an early tomato. Nice texture too! Summer Sunrise Tomato
Summer Sunrise tomato is a pleasant treat in any garden. Blemished free fruits are produced on short plants that produce plenty. This mid-season variety is sweeter, fruity and mild. Good keepers, these are perfect for slicing, salads, canning and tomato juice. Plants are vibrant. and hardy. Ours survived a brutal spring and early summer. Fruits averaged four to six ounces. Rare and worth it. -
Ponderosa Purpurviolette Tomato
In 2018 I was gifted a package of hard to find and rare seeds. I grew out about 25 varieties. Ponderosa Purpurviolette Tomato is one of them. This fantastic taster with nice texture has really given me the drive to grow even more rare cultivars. It has a really good old-time tomato tart with a. nice blend of sweetness, excellent overall taste! Perfect sandwich tomato. Hardy plants produce plenty, but they are not prolific. I got about 13 fruits from one plant and 15 from the other three. So a total of 58 fruits from 4 plants. I'll take it! I forgot to take notes on leaf type, so forgive me. Indeterminate, 80 days! UJ Uatokos is a perfect sized little slicer that is a multi-purpose tomato. When fully ripened, they are deep red, very aromatic, balanced, and desirable. Vines are aggressive and display good disease resistance. These have done well for us, even in extended, adverse conditions. I personally like these on sandwiches and eaten fresh on the vine, which are the only two ways I've ever had them. 75 Days. -
Carmin Violet Tomato
Carmin Violet tomato is a cutie slicing variety with very good taste. Soft but not mushy, it has a wonderful aroma when fully ripened. I was surprise by its very nice, mild flavor that still delivered completeness. I really enjoyed this tomato but did not try it in any applications. The only way I had it was fresh off of the vine. Very good experience. Six to ten ounce, oblate fruits, grow on hardy 5 feet tall plants. Big production, mid-season ! Expect your first ripened fruits around 75 days from transplant. -
Silver Tuckqueen Tomato
Without any information other than seed source, I didn't know what to expect when growing out Silver Tuckqueen tomato. What I got were beautiful, red, large cherries with very nice and tangy taste. These were refreshing and immediately reminded me of stewed tomatoes. I tried it and it worked out wonderfully. These are clean and blemish-free tomatoes. They have nice texture and delivered an overall pleasing experience. I would definitely grow these again, especially for their earliness and market sales. Ours started ripening around 62 days from transplant. Perfect for canning, cooking, snacking and more! These are not too common so I hope more people would try them! -
ER Chu Xian Zao Sheng Tomato
True to the Chinese varieties, ER Chu Xian Zao Sheng tomato is on the sweet side. Bigger cherry sized tomatoes are bright red, juicy and aromatic when fully ripened. Indeterminate vines average about 5 feet tall and produce abundant crops all season long. Plants are also vibrant and hardy. Ours never had any diseased and produce until frost. Fruits begin to ripen about 80 days after they are transplanted into their final grow-out spot. This is a great tomato for sauces. Also perfect for salads, fresh eating, fresh salsa and tone more!! Give it a shot! Stake these well!
