Some people say that Carbon tomato is perhaps the best black tomato there is. I say, it's pretty close. Certainly, it's one to be reckoned with! It's not often that I am blown away by the taste of a tomato. Carbon had that effect on me. Before I forget, let me say that some of the best sandwiches that I have had were with these. Carbon is a full flavored tomato that is rich, balanced and excessively good. Our plants were about 5 feet tall in full sunlight. They produced plenty 8-12 ounce fruits that are delightful. Cherokee Purple Heart Tomato
Out Of Stock Until September 2020 75 Days. Oxhearts are unique in their own way. But Cherokee Purple Heart tomato goes to another level. This dark colored fruit grows on the signature oxheart wispy leaf plants. Indeterminate vines are skinny and about 5-6 feet tall. Fruits ripen to a shiny, light chocolate color and weigh between 4 pounds 10 ounces. Vines are especially productive. When I first heard about someone sharing Cherokee Purple Potato Leaf tomato seeds, I was very skeptical. Nonetheless, I decided to try them. What I got was prolific plants that produced dark colored, 8-12 ounce fruits that were tasty, sweeter and juicy. They had very good flavor but different texture to Cherokee Purple. Potato leafed plants were very disease resistant and never showed any signs of diseases. As evidence that this is a good tomato, it was one of the few varieties that raccoons attacked in our garden. Raccoons do not touch our tomatoes if they are not tasty. They kept returning these plants night after night. These are great for sandwiches, sauces, market sales and more. -
75 Days. If you are wanting to try something different in your garden, Chestnut Chocolate tomato may be the way for you to go. Tall vines produce tons of anthocyanin tomatoes that are dark on the top and chocolate colored in their bottom end. When fruits are ripened their bottom ends changes to a chocolate color. Feel a few and soon you will be a pro. This tomato has a fresh, earthy taste with a sweet finish. Great of salsa, fresh eating, slicing and drying, cooking and garnishing. -
70 Days. This champion deserves its name. Dwarf Chocolate Champion tomato is a shorter variety, perhaps 3 feet, and produce nice sized, chocolate colored fruits that can weigh 3-6 ounces. Fruits are oblate and reddish with chocolate shoulders. They are nicely balanced and very desirable! our vines have no issues with diseases. Great container variety! See It on YouTube. -
After all of these years of growing Chocolate Cherry tomato, It's still one of my favorite go to varieties. Salsas, market sales, slicing and drying, salads and even some dark sauce all benefit from using this variety. Our vines have always been tall and bushy. They produce heavy crops of 1 inch darkened tomatoes that have wonderful and complete flavors. They are always among the first to ripen and the last to die in the fall. Chocolate Cherry is rich, balanced and refreshing. Grow ample vines, you will be snacking all season long. Excels at market sales! -
Chocolate Stripes Tomato
Don't think that this is just a pretty tomato that's over-hyped! Chocolate Stripes is a beautiful, dark-bi-color fruit, that is so beautiful you may mistake it for a tropical fruit. Taste is superb, rich and juicy. Vines are 5-6 feet tall and hardy. They produce plenty of oblate, 4-6 ounce fruits that ripen at about the 75 day mark. Perfect slicer for sandwiches, garnishing, unique sauce, fresh eating of the vine and drying. There are so many things that you can do with these! -

Christmas Purple Grapes Tomato
A plump, fat cherry, Christmas Purple Grapes tomato is definitely a keeper. Boasting full flavored goodness and texture that will pull you in, this variety is definitely worth growing. Plants are very hardy and showed nice disease resistance for us in 2020. These purple/brownish fruits are the perfect snacks that you will never get tired of. Prolific, relatively early, nice aroma too. Try these, you will want much more of them! -
I first grew Chyornyi Tarasenko Tomato in 2016 and was excessively pleased with it. Nice sized, shiny, deep chocolate fruits ripen about 80-85 days after transplant. Chyornyi Tarasenko is rich, juicy and more balanced than most. These babies are exceptionally beautiful. Vines are 6 feet tall, produce big crops. Vines are very disease resistant. When sliced, fruits come alive revealing beautiful shade of purples and deep pinks! -
Creme Brûlée tomato is a great example of the qualities of most black tomatoes. It's one that I would recommend if someone to someone who has never tasted a dark variety. It's similar in taste to Grandma Oliver's Chocolate and Chyornyi Tarasenko. Most of all it has it's own delicious characteristics. Creme Brûlée is not a large fruit (perhaps 6-8 ounces) but it has large flavor. 5 foot tall plants begin to ripen fruits around 75 days after transplant. We had no disease issues with these in 2018. Plants produce plenty of pretty fruits. Cracking wasn't an issue for us with these. A great choice for any tomato garden! See it on YouTube -
85 Days. I am a huge tomato sauce maker and I love this tomato! It makes the most delicious deep brown, sweet sauce that is perfect on spaghetti. 3 to 4inch long, deep brown tomatoes, are late to ripen and early to the sauce-pan. They have few seeds and sweet flesh. Note: I have noticed that a few do get cracks, but it really doesn't matter because sauce is what I am after. They all go right in da pan! -
D.B. Cooper Tomato
A Millard Murdock tomato, D.B. Cooper tomato is a cross between Marianna's Peace tomato, (one of my favorites) and an unknown black variety. Flattened beefsteak fruits can reach one pound and are generally in the 12-16 ounce range. Expect slight ribbing with slightly green shoulders. Rich and satisfying flavor with some smoky undertones. Without a doubt, Daniel Burson tomato was a huge hit for us in 2021. This tomato totally surprised me. Production, production, production. In fact it was one of the last remaining in the garden. This cross between Indian Stripe and Daniels happened in the garden of Mr. Bill Jeffers of Evansville Indiana. Our plants were potato leafed and excessively hardy and produced large oblate fruits. Taste is rich and superb! Texture is outstanding! Our plants were about 5 feet tall. If you are looking for a really nice black tomato. Here you go! -
Dark Galaxy Tomato
75 Days. Dark Galaxy is a unique, mottled tomato, that looks like something from another planet. Meanwhile, here on earth it is a good tomato. I was very skeptical when I first grew these so I only grew two plants. Fruits were nice sweeter and earthy so I grew them again the following year. These will turn heads, in the garden or market. Perfect for garnish, sliced up in salads and for fresh eating. A huge hit at our farmers market. Chefs are especially interested in them! -
Dark Stripe Micro Tomato

Introducing.. Dark Stripe Micro tomato! It's the only true dwarf multi-flora that I know of. There are several dwarf varieties that claim to be multiflora but don't quite produce abundantly, or have the habit. Seeds for these were shared with me several years ago, unstable and at F3. I have worked on it, selecting mostly for its multiflora qualities, plant size and taste. It's now very stable! Not only that, this tomato is a beautifully bi-colored variety. Although it's called a micro, it has the habit of a true dwarf. Rugose leafed, tree-like plants, can reach 2 feet tall in-the-ground, and up to 1.5 in 2-3 gallon pots. Also, this is an indeterminate variety! These plants produce many bunches of 40-60 fruits all on a very short plant, all season long. These do not produce many seeds. Many of my plants have produced over 250 tomatoes. I also like that it's not too seedy! We will be offering our seeds a little above our average prices due to low seed count and it's rarity.. At this time (2020-2021) we are the only vendor in the world to offer these! Taste is awesome, rich, sweet and balanced. You would love this tomato! Great for containers or in the ground! Dark Stripe Sweetheart Tomato
A beautifully bi-colored fruit, Dark Stripe Sweetheart tomato is packed with excellent flavor. This rich, sweet and complexed tasting fruit, is a great snacker! Our prolific potato leafed plants produced 4-6 ounce tomatoes that were a pleasure to see and eat. Vines were about 6 feet tall and produced bunches of 5-7. When fully ripened, these are purple with green striping. I also love it's aroma. Even thought Dark Stripe Sweetheart is on the smaller side, it is perfect for sandwiches. It would be a great choice for market sales, garnish, cooking and tons more. You can't go wrong with this one! -
72 Days. I grew these out in 2016 and again in 2017. They were consistent and great looking fruits. Honestly, I snacked on these so much that I totally did not save enough seeds. So 2018 here we come!! De Barao Black tomato is a flavorful pear type tomato. It's vines are prolific and relentless. They produce all season long until frost. Tomatoes are mildly sweet, juicy, rich and a bit earthy. These are great for snacking, salsa, salads, market sales and drying in your dehydrator. GO!!! -
Dice's Mystery Black Tomato
Dice's Mystery Black tomato is a sweeter black variety with low acidity. It is said that a stray plant grew out of a pack of seeds of another variety. Regular leafed plants are high producers of 5-8 ounce fruits. You can expect your fruits around Mid-season. -
Dwarf Aussie Drop Tomato
Dwarf Aussie Drop tomato is a heart shaped fruit that grows on rugose, regular leafed plants. Plants were about 2.5 feet tall and produced heavily. Minimal staking is required. This variety is perfect for dark, sweet sauces, canning, cooking and more. Also a very nice snack in the garden. If you grow in smaller gardens or containers, these will work excellently. A few fruits were more elongated than heart shaped. I recommend 4-5 gallon containers or larger! I really loved these for sauces and cooking with. -
Whether you have grown dwarf varieties before or not, you will appreciate them when you grow out Dwarf Black Angus Tomato. This very tasty variety did well for us in our 2018 grow-outs. 2.5 feet tall, indeterminate rugose leafed plants, produced 6-8 ounce tomatoes that had very nice flavor and texture. Plants have dense foliage, so it can sometimes be difficult to see fruits. Without hurting the suckers, we pruned some of the bottom leaves to better see fruits. That worked well! Our fruits reminded me of Black Krim, but with a firmer texture. Very good sandwich tomato and more! Expect first ripened fruits about 75 days after transplant. -
Dwarf Hazy's Dream Tomato
I have a lot of admiration and respect for the work that is done at the Dwarf Tomato Project. Some of the best dwarf tomatoes that I have grown were as a result of their hard work. This one has a rich flavor, masked by mild fruitiness. Overall, it's a sweet tomato that has a very nice balance. Juice is rich and delicious. Dwarf Hazy's Dream tomato plants are about 3 feet tall and produce a nice amount of 2-5 ounce fruits, though most are around 2-4. Ours came in a little late, starting to ripen fruits about 82 days after transplant. Definitely worth the wait! Perfect little slicer that you would enjoy. Note: Most dwarf varieties do well in containers and small gardens. -
Kookaburra Cackle Dwarf tomato is a relatively early ripening variety. 4 feet tall plants are tree like and have rugose, regular leaves. They begin to ripen about 70 days after transplant. Oblate fruits are brownish and are delicious, rich and juicy. A bit on the tart side. Great for salsas, drying and sandwiches. Good Container variety! -
Perhaps the most prolific dwarf variety that we grew in 2018, Dwarf Mary's Cherry tomato is awesome! Inconsistent in sizes, fruits vary from 2-3 inches in diameter. Dwarf Mary's Cherry is rich and juicy. There is some sweetness and a bit of earthiness also! It's a really good tomato for snacking and fresh tomato salsa. It should really liven up your soups, the flavor is that good! Our plants did not exceed 2.5 feet tall and they began to ripen fruits early, coming in at 70 days after transplant. This variety is easily one of my top ten dwarf varieties. Another good variety for growing in containers or in the ground. Side disease resistance too! -
Dwarf Purple Heart Tomato
Some of the most beautiful tomatoes that you would ever see, Dwarf Purple Heart tomato is a very exciting and tasty variety. True to the oxheart family, Dwarf Purple Heart plants have wispy leaves and skinny vines. they produce perfect hart shaped, deep brown/purple tomatoes that have olive shoulders. Fruits ripen about 85 days after transplant. -
Dwarf Purple Reign tomato is perhaps the prettiest black colored dwarf that I have grown. Very smooth and crack-free fruits have superb flavor that reminds me of Black Krim. These also remind me of Chyornyi Tarasenko. They were sweeter and intense with some flavors that I cannot really describe (all good)! Our indeterminate plants were about 3 feet tall and produced plenty of 6-12 ounce fruits that were covered with thick foliage. Plants produced well all season long. A little staking was necessary because plants quickly became too heavy. Expect your first ripened fruits about 75 days after transplant. These will do well in containers also! -
Perhaps the most prolific black dwarf variety, Dwarf Velvet Night tomato is a very formidable fruit. Softish, well balanced fruits are sweet and earthy with other great complimentary flavors. Borne in clusters of 5 or 6 , tomatoes are covered by the thick foliage. Plants are "tree like" and begin producing pretty cherry fruits quite early after transplant. Fruits also ripen relatively early, coming in about 70 days after transplant. This can be a great tomato for snacking, fresh salsa and market sales. Try dehydrating some and making tomato jam. That may work well! If you are have limited garden space, it's a good variety for containers too. 4-5 gallon recommended. Give it a try! You will love it! See It On Youtube!
