Description
There is probably no tomato more famous than Cherokee Purple. This tomato is rich, full of great juice, has excellent texture, well balanced and satisfying. Shorter vines are heavy producers and begin to ripen their fruits about 80 days after transplant. Fruits weigh between 6 and 16 ounces. Perfect for sandwiches, salsa, salad, fresh eating, market sales and so much more. This is a great tomato for first time growers, too!

Perhaps the finest tasting tomato that I have ever grown. I normally grow 50-60 tomato plants per year and could not imagine having fewer than 10 of these. They are productive with a rich sweet smoky flavor that the black varieties are famous for. I am in zone 8 and they do not like the heat of summer and are somewhat prone to fungus and disease. I have never given one to anyone without them raving about the taste. If you have never grow this one you should give it a try.

This is an excellent tomato! Everyone that tastes it loves it. It is also a pretty tomato. When I offer tomatoes to my non-gardening friends, this is one of the tomatoes they ask for. It grows well in my short season in zone 5. Cherokee Purple is one of my top favorites.
