    Chinese Forget Me Not One of my favorite flowers to grow, Chinese Forget Me Not is very delightful. I grow mine as splashes of color, a border or just as stand alone in larger patches. Also known as Blue Showers, these beauties will turn heads in your garden when they start blooming. Big bunches of flowers are very attractive, especially to pollinators. Great for cut flower bouquets! These take about 90 days from seed to bloom. You can direct these when any chance of freeze has past. Bless your garden with the color that it needs!
  • Big beefsteak tomatoes are what you will get when you grow Granny Harriet's Heirloom Tomato. I was totally blown away by these! I acquired these seeds from my friend, who wanted me to let everyone know that his family had grown them for more than 80 years and that he is still growing them. Granny Harriet's easily surpasses 1 pound and most are between 1.5 and 2 pounds. They are very balanced and ready for any sandwich! I especially enjoyed mine with a little salt and pepper. Stake vines well for best results. Our first fruits ripened around 88 days after transplant!  
  • Looking for a short, dwarf variety that produces like crazy? Try Nano Ciliegia Dwarf tomato! These can outproduce anything! Sweetish cherries are firm and delicious. They have fabulous texture and are perfect for snacking!  Plants are no taller than 2.5 feet, but are always loaded. Fruits are average cherry sized. Nano Ciliegia is a recomended variety for container growing. If you have a small garden, this dwarf variety could work well! Stake well, because plants easily get top heavy with fruits. We noticed our first ripened fruits around  day 75. Works for salads, canning, dehydrating and tons more. Try These!

    Here is another fantastic variety from Fred Hempel. Yellow Taste tomato is a salad lover's dream. Like many of Fred's creations, Yellow Taste vines are not too tall, vibrant and prolific. Ours were about 4 feet. They produced 1-2 inch, elongated fruits, that were sweet, fruity and satisfying, all season long. Additionally, they performed very well in hotter, extended drought periods. The highlight for us was at the market, where they attracted many return customers week after week. These are perfect for salads, snacking, garnishing, cooking and more. Try dehydrating some, then you could experience the true intensity of this worthwhile little plum shaped fruit!
  • If you are seeking a perfect container variety that will produce bigger crops, Dwarf Lime Green Salad  tomato is a great choice. They are perfect for salsa, salads, cooking and canning. Don't forget to eat some right off the vine too! Lime Green Salad plants are rugose leafed and about 2.5 feet tall when mature. They produce big crops of 2.3 inch oblate fruits that are mostly green with a yellowish tint, when ripened. They have great disease resistance and are always determined to produce. Excellent choice for container and ground growing. Plant these 2 feet apart in your garden!

    Mother's Love is easily one of the top ten tomatoes that I grew in 2017. This tomato has everything that you hope for in a good tomato. Fruits ripen in about 85 days and can be up to 1.5 pounds. Most are around the 1 pound mark. Mother's Love tomato reminds me of Dester, which to me is one of the better tomatoes that I have ever tasted. That's how good this tomato is. It is meaty, juicy, medium-firm, clean, sweet, and tons more. I just love slicing them for picture taking! Vines are around 6 feet tall and produce from early summer until frost snuffs the life out of them. Until then, they'll produce outstanding fruits that are perfect for sandwiches, sauces, salsas, eating off the vine, and anything you could possibly imagine. They are also one of my favorites for fried green tomatoes. You should not have a garden without these.
  • Minnie's Pinstripe tomato is a 1 pound red and yellow bi-color. It's sweet mildly fruity and juicy with some interesting complimentary flavors. Vines are 6 feet tall and produce plenty of really good eye turners until frost. A perfect sandwich tomato, you can use Minnie's for almost anything that a tomato can do! Vines are hardy and seem to like our hotter summer weather here in Indiana USA. 85 Days!
  • Paw Paw Tomato

    Paw Paw tomato is a very fine beefsteak with excellent sweeter taste. It has the signature sweet taste of most red and yellow big tomatoes. Can grow to 1.5 pounds plus! Our biggest fruits have been closer to 2 pounds. Very productive variety that begins to ripen about 90 days after transplant. Very delicious!
  • Hangjiao 7 Super Nova Pepper

    Also known as Space Pepper, Super Nova Pepper has somewhat of an interesting story. In 1987 a Chinese scientist, Jiang Xingcun,  discovered that sending seeds to satellites in space for a while created greater chances for mutations. These variations manifested themselves in  the forms of  bigger fruit sizes, yields and much increased nutritional values. This this pepper is as a result of one of his experiments. Measuring about 5000 SHU, Super Nova pepper is just about as hot as a Jalapeno. This makes it a medium heat variety. Great for drying, cooking, flakes and powders. Very nice for seasoning and cooking. 2.5 feet tall plants.

    Cosmos tomato is a fine antho variety that I attained from a friend who got them from a seed bank. These large-sized cherries are ideal for salads and snacking. The will also be great for garnish and canning while or halved. Productive plants start producing and ripening white early and never stop. Get your baskets ready because they never stop coming. Taste is mild, sweet and all-around good. This tomato goes a long way in avoiding the usual antho taste, so I like that a lot. Expect ripened fruits around 75 days from transplant and like I said, expect a lot!

If you are seeking a new and rare cultivar for your next grow-outs, try Byelorussian Tomato.  Very tasty!  These are  blemish-free, almost perfect 6 ounce slicers! Very good balanced taste, nice aroma and again, not easily found.  Our plants were prolific and relatively early, ripening their fruits about 72 days after transplant. Fruits are perfect slicers, great for cooking, canning, sauces and much more. Try a few right off the vine, mmmmmmm!!  Seeds directly from Gatersleben Seed Bank. LYC 3687.

    If you are looking for a very good tomato for slicing in salads or for garnish, Taste Patio tomato will easily do the job. One of my favorite varieties in 2o19, by one of my favorite breeders, Fred Hempel! Plants are determinate and produce so much, that you will never stop harvesting them. These are very delicious in every way. Sweet, tangy, fruity, semi crispy and are so tasty that I ate many at first blush! Intensely colored bi-color fruits are about 2 inches long.     Big Anna Tomato

    If you have craved a huge, delicious variety that ripens relatively early, check out Big Anna Tomato. I first got these in 2015 and grew them out in 2018.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take images of them.  This year, 2019, I grew them out again for images and also because they were so good! I didn't just grow two plants, I grew five. Honestly, I feel blessed to have been gifted this Awesome family heirloom. Smooth flesh that has nice balance, veers towards the sweet side with healthy hints of acidity. My largest was 2.1 pounds and on the smaller side they are about 12 ounces. On both grow-outs our plants reached about 6 feet tall. They produce plenty but are not super prolific. Recommended! Try them!
  • Tom’s Wonder Tomato

    Big meaty beefsteaks on tall vibrant vines are what you will get with Tom's Wonder tomato. These are a little late, coming in at 85 days. But if you can wait, you will be well rewarded. Production is also good, so you will have plenty for your sandwiches, yellow sauce, salsas and more! Our plants demonstrated good disease resistance. They were hardy, thick seemed and bushy. Fruits can weigh upwards of one pound. Our biggest was 1.2 pounds (18 ounces) but most averaged around 14 ounces. Stake well for best results. Tom's look great on a sliced platter.   • Here is a nice dwarf tomato for you to try. I expected these to be acidic, but they were not. They were mild and fruity with some sweet reflections. Dwarf Citron Compact tomato is truly a nice treat at any time, especially in the garden Fruits are about the size of a golf ball, perhaps a tad smaller. They have a softer feel with plenty of rich juice and good texture. These are great when sliced up in a salad. Great for snacking. Try canning some too! Plants are about 2.5 feet tall and produce plenty canary yellow fruits that will delight you! 72 days to ripen.

    A delightful oxheart is how I would describe King Kong tomato. Pretty, red oxheart fruits are borne on wispy leaved plants that can reach 6 feet tall. Fruits are on the sweet side, have tons of meat, a bit fruity, have old fashioned appeal and are clean with few cracks. Our vines were prolific, producing many bunches of 5-7 fruits that averaged 4-12 ounces. Plants kept producing all season long! In fact, they were some of the last do wither! This a great sandwich and sauce tomato. Also good for market sales if you are a tomato vendor. Eat many off the vine, Yumm!

    Don't be surprised if you grow this little gem each year. Grinch Cherry dwarf tomato is a beautiful, pear shaped, nickel size or slightly larger dwarf variety that is know for being prolific and early. In fact, many times they've been the earliest to ripen in our garden. Grinch Cherry is mild, soft, very juicy, and flavorful. They are perfect for fresh eating off the vine, cooking, garnishing, and for people who like milder tomatoes. Be sure to check them often, about 65 to 70 days after transplant, to harvest a few ripened ones. Perfect variety for container growing but need to be caged because vines like to sprawl.

    Get your canning jars ready! Pull out your sauce pans! We're about to get busy. Tapacheko 2 is a sauce and canning specialist that would perform very well as a paste tomato also. Its in the vein of San Marzano. Slightly juicier and larger. It is a determinant variety and its loaded vines do not grow perhaps more than 2.5 feet tall. It was surprisingly late for us coming in at about 90 days but it was totally worth it! Even though it is a short growing plant, it does need staking because it is a high yielding plant. Make yourself some of the best sauce ever.

    If you really enjoy tomato sandwiches and great spaghetti sauce, Reif Red Heart tomato would do an excellent job for you! This versatile oxheart tomato can stand up with the best of them! Sweet, meaty and juicy, Wes tomatoes bear on plants that are about 6 feet tall. Vines are wispy leaved, skinny and produce plenty of 5-10 ounce, red heart shaped fruits. Expect your first ripened tomatoes around 75 days from transplant. Stake week and early for the best results!

    Peter Glazebrooks is a huge, flattened tomato with small ridges. Fruits can easily reach 2 pounds. I especially love it's foliage!Plants are bushy and not too tall, perhaps 5 feet. They produce a really nice amount of fruits that ripen around the 85 day mark. Really nice taste! Perfect sandwich tomato!

    Big Yellow Zebra tomato is a bigger bi-color fruit that has great flavor. Weighing about 10-20 ounces this pretty beefsteak grows on taller vines that produce plenty of fruits. If you love sweeter but not too strong tomatoes, this would work well for you. This tomato has a rich finish and plenty of real tomato taste. Fruits begin to ripen around the 80 day mark. Perfect for sandwiches, nice yellow sauce, cooking and market sales. Stake well!

    If you like growing antho tomatoes, this would be a nice one for you to try. Perfect sized fruits have pink bottoms and heavily darkened tops. plants, though not overly prolific, produce lots of fruits. Ours began to ripen about 80 days after transplant and were relatively hardy. Flavor is up front and forward, minus the heavy antho taste. ours survived extreme weather, including excessive water, heat and moisture, to produce until the end of the season. A good find for us.

    Spudatula Black Tomato is another great tasting variety. Its taste is earthy, with nice old tomato flavor. Slices very nice for sandwiches. My plants were potato leafed, about 5 feet tall and prolific. Our first fruits began to ripen about 75 days after transplant. As far s disease, potato leafed varieties always do better for me, so this one stood up well to the conditions, and even through weeks of heavy rain and even more weeks of intense heat and humidity. I am definitely growing this one again. Nice smooth texture for slicing. I love it!
  • Aunt Eula's Rockhouse Yellow Tomato is a larger yellow variety with milder and sweet taste. These are great for anyone not liking too much acid in their tomatoes. A few of our fruits exceeded the 1 pound mark, but most were between 8 and 14 ounces. These make prefect sandwich companions and not too many seeds. If you like your tomatoes big yellow and sweeter, you may find this one appealing. 82 days to first ripened fruits. Indeterminate, productive vines produces until season's end.

    This purple skinned variety produces above-the-ground bulbs that are best when harvested around 3 inches in diameter. Flavor is sweet and turnip-like. Some say its flavor is more like broccoli. Can be eaten raw, pickled or cooked. I love baking them with a sprinkle of rosemary olive oil, black pepper and slightly salted.! Leaves can also be eaten and prepared, steamed, tossed etc, like you would any other greens. Easy to germinate and will reach maturity between 50-70 days. Can be direct sowed in early spring when chance of frost is gone.

    Reinhard Kraft's Purple Heart Tomato

    For several years I have been trying some varieties by this breeder. This year I hit another jackpot with three of his varieties. Reinhard Kraft's Purple Heart tomato was one of them. This beautiful chocolate/purple colored fruit seriously packs some great taste. I just ate so many of them. Now, that the season is over, I have serious withdrawal symptoms! These are rich and complex, have superb texture, not too many seeds and are great  for sandwiches, slicing, sauce and snacking. Indeterminate plants produce plenty 6-8 ounce fruits. Trust me, this one is good! 80 Days!

    Some of the biggest tomatoes that we grew in 2018 Giant Doohov was a stand-out in our gardens. Easily and consistently crossing one pound, many approached the 1.5 pound range. But size wasn't its only attribute. Gigant Doohov also had great taste! It was really meaty, balanced and had awesome texture. Truly, this is a very good tomato that works wonderfully on a sandwich. I used some for cooking and those were great too! But after eating a few in the garden, I knew that I was going to include it in my annual plantings. Try this one, I Recommend It!
