Monkey Ass is a delicious, high producing oxheart variety with excellent taste. This tomato will never let you down! Fruits are about 6-10 ounces, very meaty and have few seeds. A perfect sandwich tomato, Monkey’s Ass tomato also makes killer sauce that’s sweet and milder. Vines are super hardy even in the worst growing conditions and will produce though 90 degree weather or extended periods of damp and rain. These have proven to to be a winner for us. Stake well because plenty tomatoes are coming!

I only grew this variety once and not under the best conditions so take this review with a grain of salt. They were indeed good sauce tomatoes with dense flesh and almost no seed mass. I had no problems with blossom end rot or splitting, and some of the first fruits were actually quite large, 14-16 oz. However, as a fresh eating tomato mine did not have a lot of flavor. They did continue to produce, although not prolifically, during the main season. Unfortunately they were one of the first to get hit with early blight and didn’t pull through so I didn’t get a lot of ripe fruits. I grew these in a raised bed using the single stem method, pruning off all the suckers, not something I would recommend for a sauce tomato, especially spindly-vined, wispy leaf oxhearts. I’m sure it would have done much better and possibly excelled with a cage and limited pruning. And yes, some of the fruits do indeed look like a monkey’s ass. A baboon’s to be more precise.
