Cuostralee may not often be listed as a great sauce tomato but it is. That may mostly be due to the fact that it’s such an excellent beefsteak. Still on my top rated list, Cuostralee tomato will rock your world no matter how you decide to use it. Huge, weighty fruits can reach 1.5 pounds . Vines produce plenty of perfect, crack-free fruits. This is the classic “way back” tomato! Cuostrale is rich, balanced, sweeter, meaty, aromatic and much more. Everything about this tomato is all good! Make yourself a some really good tomato sandwiches and spaghetti sauce!

These didn't quite reach a 5 for me on flavor but they were very good and have many other redeeming qualities. Produced many large fruits/ mine averaged 12 Oz  that were resistant to cracking, even after rains where many other tomatoes cracked. Good disease/ pest resistance, tolerated hot spells better than others and were one of the last to survive into the cold during the fall.

Cuostralee is one of my top three favorite tomatoes! Love the size, density and flavor of this Wonderful tomato. Hardy disease resistant and very large vines produced till frost.

Folks, if you are going to grow a true RED tomato… this is the one. This is, by far, my favorite red tomato here in Southern New Jersey!! (zone 7A) Ever since I 1st received my seeds from Renaissance Farms/Curtis, this is a main-stay in my garden every year. Its a bit slow in fruiting, but once it does, its really worth the wait. What Carl Bossler says in his review is true – a prefect red beefsteak variety! It also seems more resistance to early and late blight and other diseases. A couple of my gardening friends also have tried this one, and the reviews are all the same….. Prefect Red Tomato….. a real keeper in the garden every year!!

Gary, you know your stuff. Cuostralee is certainly a fantastic tomato!

This is one variety of heirloom tomatoes that I’ve grown longer than any other is my all time favorite red. It’s the one heirloom variety that I’ve grown every year for the last 25 years. Perfect red beefsteak variety, from France, most weigh in around 1lb but they do get larger. Super Juicy, makes every sandwich 100 times better. It also makes a very good soup.
