• African Vining Tomato

    2018 was the first year that we grew African Vining tomato. I was very pleased with the outcome! What we got was a very good sauce tomato that had nice stand-alone flavor.  It was softer and more aromatic than some other elongated varieties,  so it wasn't the best keeper. I especially loved sauce made from this variety, which was sweeter and thick. African Vining vines produce as many as most noted sauce and paste types ( Amish Paste, Abbittista, Jersey Devil). Vines are wispy and need early staking. Great too for canning, cooking and paste. Would be a great new addition to your sauce cultivars.
  • Anna's Multiflora Tomato

    75- Days! I have grown Anna's Multiflora tomato many times over the last 7 years and it's still one of my go-to tomatoes. Perfectly balanced with a sweetish feel, this is a great sauce, paste, drying and even cooking variety, Anna's Multiflora is the perfect solution for many situations. Vines are about 5 feet tall and produce plenty of red, elongated fruits. this is also a great variety for canning!
  • Beauty Lottringa Tomato

    80 Days. One of our huge scores for the 2017 season, Beauty Lottringa tomatoes turned every head that walked through our gardens. Huge, flattish, ruffled tomatoes  grew on shorter vines(perhaps 4 feet tall) and were awesome all season long. These had absolutely no signs of diseases. Fruits ripened to a deep red and the largest ones can reach 1.5 pounds. Our largest fruits in 2017 weighed 20 ounces and smallest around 8. If you love sweet spaghetti sauce, this will be one to look at. Seriously, this thing made some really great sauce! I also enjoyed them when dried. A winner at the farmers market! See it on YouTube!     Blush tomato is a Fred Hempel  creation that we totally love. 1-2 inch long fruits are blushed with yellows and pinks. They are among the best tasting tomatoes that we grow each year! These are sweet, fruity and juicy, but with a very nice tangy balance. Perfect for so many things and excellent eaten right off the vine!
  • Egyptian Pink Tomato

    Egyptian Pink tomato is what I would consider a multi-purposed sauce tomato. Unlike many plum types, it is not necessarily a good keeper and has a softer feel. This tomato makes really balanced sauce, even when nothing I added to it. Plants are 5-6 feet tall, have wispy leaves and produce good crops of 2 inch long, tender pink fruits. This are not only great for tomato sauce, but they work well for cooking and canning too. Try eating some right off the vine, what a treat! Expect your first ripened fruits around day 75  after transplant. Must be staked well. Does well in hotter weather too!
  • Florentine Beauty Tomato

    Florentine Beauty tomato is a really pretty fruit that will turn heads. This medium sized, heavily ribbed variety, ripens to a nice canary yellow. Perfect for sauces, garnish and cooking, this beauty is a winner at the farmers market. It's mild and sweet with not so much juice. Seed count can also low. A perfect selection for those not wanting an acidic tomato. Vines are not tall(perhaps four feet) and begin to ripen their fruits about 85 days after transplant. Ours demonstrates very good disease resistance and willingness to produce in hotter weather. Try some mild yellow tomato sauce with these.     Opalka Tomato

    Another one in our line of sauce makers, Opalka has to be close to the top of that list. If thick spaghetti sauce is what you are after, Opalka tomato will easily do that job for you. Thick and bushy vines produce a high quantity of 3 inch, red elongated tomatoes that are perfect for sauces.
  • Orange Caprese Tomato

    Orange Caprese tomatoes are a delicious sauce and paste tomato that was bred by my friend Fred Hempel of Artisans Seeds. Be careful when you bite into them or you will be splashed with delicious orange colored juice. Vines are about 5 feet tall and produce clusters of about 5 deep orange, 2 inch elongated fruits.  75 days to ripen, disease resistance good. Also good for drying and garnishing.
  • We have had so much fun growing Strelka's Arrow that I don't know if our garden can ever do without them! This sauce specialist is mild and sweet with very few seed cavities. It is mostly all meat. Strelka's Arrow's vines are determinant, excessively prolific, short, and sprawling. They are perhaps the most prolific sauce variety that I have ever grown. Vines are bushy and cluttered, so these need to be staked and bottom leaves trimmed. Our vines never had any diseases. We do spray with copper sulfate right after transplant and again after first fruit-set. If you have little space and need high yield, this would be a good choice for you. Firm fruits are perfect for drying and canning also. Does well as a keeper.
  • Tapacheko 2 Tomato

    Get your canning jars ready! Pull out your sauce pans! We're about to get busy. Tapacheko 2 is a sauce and canning specialist that would perform very well as a paste tomato also. Its in the vein of San Marzano. Slightly juicier and larger. It is a determinant variety and its loaded vines do not grow perhaps more than 2.5 feet tall. It was surprisingly late for us coming in at about 90 days but it was totally worth it! Even though it is a short growing plant, it does need staking because it is a high yielding plant. Make yourself some of the best sauce ever.
