Anyone who has ever grown Kosovo tomato knows how very useful it is. True to what oxhearts do, this very tasty variety is a keeper for me from now on. Let's first talk about its production, Kosovo is second to none! Our plants produced fruits that were 6-16 ounces but averaging about 8. Wispy, regular leafed vines were always loaded even as I picked every other day. Each time I visited my plants they seemed untouched and never picked from. As far as taste, these were very good. They were full flavored and tasty. I made some very good sauce with these. I also made stew, fried green tomatoes, sandwiches and ate quite a few in the garden. Wonderful experiences all around! In a nutshell, Kosovo tomato is a multi-use tomato that is second to none! Totally worth growing. -
Krupnya Grozd Tomato
Krupnya Grozd tomato is a 10-14 ounce, red oxheart with deep flavor and nice texture! They have wispy vines that would need early staking. Production is good to excellent! When fully ripened, these are are so beautiful that you will always have your eyes on them. Ripening to a nice red, Krupnya Grozd has nice thick, semi-firm flesh and awesome aroma too. Taste is sweeter with little acidity but complete. Perfect selection for oxheart lovers. Good market and sandwich tomato. Will also do well for cooking, sauce and canning. I truly like its balanced taste. Will definitely stay in my grow-list from now on! 80 days. -
Lithuanian Crested Pink tomato was my favorite variety for looks in 2018. It was also high on the taste charts too! But that should be expected because it's an oxheart, which is my favorite tomato family. This beautiful, pink fruit, is perfectly heart shaped and a head turner! Wispy leaved plants produce a good amount of 4-10 ounce fruits that begin to ripen about 80 days after transplant. Some fruits are more pointed than others. It's is a meaty, sweeter fruit with smooth texture. Fruits do not have many seeds. A great choice for cooking, snacking, sandwiches and so much more! -
How I wish I had grown more Longhorn tomato plants in 2021! These were sooo good! I am not sure what happened and how I only ended up with two plants, but I never grow two plants of anything! Nonetheless, I am happy that I experienced this delicious dark colored oxheart. Our plants were between 5 and 6 feet tall. Leaves were wispy but not excessively and plants produced plenty, though not prolific. Taste is well balanced, a bit earthy and satisfying. I especially love the texture of this tomato, just a smooth finish. Fruit size between 6 and 12 ounces. This is a perfect sandwich tomato. I didn't do anything else with it but I suspect it will make some good sauce. Without a doubt I will be growing this one in 2022. -
Maria Amazileties Giant Red Tomato
Looking for a big, meaty, high producing oxheart variety that can be used for sandwiches, sauces, cooking and more? Try Maria Amazileties Giant Red tomato. This tomato wouldn't let you down! One pound, blunt hearts are meaty and tasty, with top of the line old fashion flavor. Fabulous balance and superb tomato aroma when fully ripened. Need yellow flavorful meat? Try Marina Doohov tomato. From the same breeder who gave us Blue Pear Eugenia and a few others, this tomato is visually appealing with super taste. This Ukrainian variety has it all! An oxheart, you will not be disappointed when you grow these out. In addition, it will turn heads in your garden. When sliced, Marina Doohov is almost all meat with very few cavities and seeds. We had to work hard to preserve seeds for offering. Well ripened, fruits have a fine aroma that reminds me cherries or peaches. A bit of that aroma carries over to its taste. make yourself a great sandwich and some nice yellow sauce with these! Easily the most eye-catching variety that I grew in 2021, Marina's Praise tomato is a head-turner. Heart shaped/elongated fruits are not only captivating inside and out, but also very tasty! Ours had very nice fruity tones and were on the sweet side. Five feet tall plants produced quite nicely. This is an awesome variety for so many things! Whether you are cooking, garnishing/plating, making sauce, snacking, or indulging in some fresh salsa, or perhaps some market sales, dehydrating and so much more, this beauty is about to light up your life! Its beauty and Wide ranges of uses makes this on worthy to be PRAISED. Try snacking on some right of of the vine. Yumm!! -
Mayo's Delight Tomato
80-85 Days. Mayo's Delight tomato really impressed me in 2017. It has certainly made it's way in my regular grow list. This multi-purpose red oxheart is very impressive. Weighty fruits average about one pound, but can be larger. I especially love its rich sweet taste, and intense flavorful juice. Makes great pasta sauce. Serves well as a sandwich tomato too! Vines have good disease resistance and will produce until frost. This is a really, really good tomato! Try it! right off the vine. -
85 Days. Marazini Oxheart tomato is one of my favorites. Like most of the other oxhearts that we grow, it has huge taste appeal! Fruits are very balanced and delicious with plenty meat. Sizes vary but most are between 5 and 10 ounces. Vines are skinny and tall. They are very productive and are usually the last plants left standing! Stake early and well. -
Midnight Sun Tomato
Just when you thought you saw it all, Karen Olivier has produced a line of potato leafed oxhearts that will totally blow your mind. There are NO oxhearts, especially potato leafed varieties, that are as beautiful as hers! Midnight Sun tomato is a 5, to perhaps 10 ounce oxheart, that are produced on wispy, potato leafed plants. These, as all of Karen's varieties were bred in Canada, and are all suitable for northern gardens! Plants grew taller than 6 feet and always looked healthy. Staking was absolutely necessary from the very beginning because these are truly wispy vines! Taste is superb and delightful when fully ripened. This one has a rich finish, while having a full tomato experience. I would totally recommend these to chefs, or anyone wanting to plate some very beautiful colors. Monomakh's Hat is the ideal oxheart tomato. Producing larger, baby pink, fruits that can reach 1 pound, this awesome variety is certainly worth its keep. We have grown it for the last three years because we can't do without them. Vines are tall and skinny so get your stakes ready. You should see your first ripened fruits around the 85 day mark. A wonderful sandwich and slicing tomato. Perfect for sauces and sliced in salads. Full of sweet meat! -
Mrs Schlaubaugh's Famous Strawberry
If you want a meaty oxheart that will sit great on a tomato sandwich, yet make wonderful, rich sauce, then you should try Mrs Schlaburgh's Famous Strawberry tomato. With this variety what you see is what you get! And that is meat and more meat. This sweet, full-flavored oxheart will blow you away! Plants are taller and wispy, but very hardy. They produce a nice crop of uniformed oxhearts that can weigh up to one pound, but averages 8-12 ounces. Perfect size for a sandwiches, Mr's Schlaburgh's also works well as a slicing type, for cooking, canning and more. Great market variety. Try these if you haven't yet! -
Oakley Park Tomato
Oakley Park tomato is a hard working, reliable, multi-purpose variety. Five feet tall plants are high producing and early. Fruits are very tasty, slightly acidic, yet with good balanced. Fruit size averages around 3-4 ounces. These have a softish feel but not mushy. Very useful for cooking, canning, juicing etc. These are very early. Ours started ripening around 62 days from transplant. Early to bloom and reliable variety. Try these if you are seeking a good multi-purpose type! If you aren't impressed by many tomatoes or don't like tomatoes at all, I suggest you give Olga Pink Heart tomato a try. True to the oxheart family, Olga packs great taste and beauty appeal. Wispy leafed vines produce huge quantities of perfect, pink heart-shaped tomatoes that are head turners. Although these are a bit late to ripen, they are absolute winners! Its sweet and dense flesh, great aroma, balanced juiciness, and thin skin, makes it a great candidate for many applications. My experience tells me that you should try them first in the garden. My experience also tells me, if you did, not many would make it to the kitchen table. These are great for sauces, salsa, sandwiches, cooking, and especially fresh eating off the vine. Staking is required because vines are skinny and tall. Try it, it's a winner! -
The most beautiful of bi-color fruits, no other oxheart tomato has the presence of Orange Russian 117 tomato. it's not just beautiful looker, though. Orange Russian is a good tasting tomato. It's medium-mild, slightly fruity and sweetish. Overall it has a very pleasant finish. I have grown this one for about 10 years and have always ben pleased. Fruits average about 8 ounces but many can reach close to the one pound range. Harty, skinny vines begin to ripen fruits about 85 ays after transplant. Good for sandwiches, sweet sauce, garnishing and sweeter sewed tomatoes. Great at Farmers' market! Watch out!! -
Pink Oxheart tomato is the second oxheart variety that we ever grew. It was the one that confirmed to me that I should grow more varieties. Since that time I have grown more than 70 varieties. This gem is about 5-10 ounce, tender pink and perfectly heart shaped. Mildly sweet with really nice flavorful meat. It's an ideal sandwich tomato. -
Portuguese Bullheart Tomato is a very worthy tomato. I really enjoyed watching these grow. Even though the images don't really show it, this variety produced some of the largest oxhearts that we grow in 2021. I especially loved it's solid production and hardiness. Neither excessive heat or too much rain seemed to be an issue. Our biggest fruits were closer to 2 pounds, while on the smaller side were ones that weighed about 6 ounces. Tall plants with wispy, regular leaves started ripening their fruits bout 82 days from transplant. Perfect for saucing, cooking and more. A great all purpose variety! -
Pumpkin Oxheart Tomato
This year, 2019, we were again fortunate to secure some really neat oxheart varieties. And Pumpkin Oxheart tomato is another fine member of the oxheart family! Medium sized fruits are nicely heart shaped and eye catching. Ripening to a nice rich pink, this selection has a mild and complete tomato taste. I would classify this as a sweeter tomato. I really like this tomato because it is not overwhelming and can fit into any scenario. Sandwiches, sauces, it has nice texture for salads, cooking, stews etc. It truly is a great tasting fruit. You can't go wrong with Pumpkin. Nice production and good disease resistance. Stake early for best results. -
There is a special spot in my heart for Raspberry Oxheart tomato. It is one of the prettiest fruits that you would ever see. Smooth clean fruits weigh about 6-10 ounces and ripen to a nice raspberry color. It's just not pretty, it's exceptionally good! Juicy, fragrant, meaty, sweet and bold, is how I would describe Raspberry Oxheart! Fruits ripen about 75 days after transplant. Great sauce tomato too! -
Reinhard Kraft's Chocolate Heart Tomato
The most beautiful chocolate oxhearts that you will ever see! Full flavored, intense taste and so beautiful! When you grow Reinhard Kraft's Chocolate Heart tomato you will immediately put it on your annual list. I couldn't eat many of these because 4 of my 6 plants died in the floods after 21 days of non-stop rain. I saved all of the seeds I could from most of the remaining fruits and only ate three smaller fruits. They were so good that I am growing many more plants next year for seeds, market and personal use. Intensely colored brown fruits are meaty, wonderfully textured and aromatic. Great choice for almost anything, but you must eat a few right off of the vine. Plants produce plenty! Great disease resistance! Recommended! -
Looking for a unique and rare tomato with plenty appeal? Reinhard Kraft's Green Heart tomato could be the one. As far as I know, it's only one of a few green oxheart beefsteaks. This gem is all meat and no bones. Very dense, 8-16 ounce oxhearts ripen green and just pop with flavor. A great place for anyone to start if they have never tasted a green when ripened tomato. True to the oxheart family, RKGH is flavorful and very tasty. This is a great choice for sandwiches, fresh eating, sauces, and more. They are a little bit late though. Our first ripened fruits came in around 85 days, but I promise you, the wait was well worth it! Recommended! -
Reinhard Kraft's Purple Heart Tomato
For several years I have been trying some varieties by this breeder. This year I hit another jackpot with three of his varieties. Reinhard Kraft's Purple Heart tomato was one of them. This beautiful chocolate/purple colored fruit seriously packs some great taste. I just ate so many of them. Now, that the season is over, I have serious withdrawal symptoms! These are rich and complex, have superb texture, not too many seeds and are great for sandwiches, slicing, sauce and snacking. Indeterminate plants produce plenty 6-8 ounce fruits. Trust me, this one is good! 80 Days! -
Reinhard Kraft's White Heart Tomato
I happen to think that Reinhard Kraft's White Heart tomato is one of the best tasting white/yellows around. I also like the variety's production and good disease resistance. This is a very desirable tomato to me. 5-6 feet tall plants produce 6-8 ounce fruits that are sweet, slightly fruity and satisfying. It delivers the complete tomato experience! They started ripening about 80 days after transplant. When fully ripened you'll find a beautiful pink blushing on its blossom end. This marbling can also be found when sliced! Nice choice for plating/garnish, slicing, cooking, sauces and of course eating right out of the garden! Another great tomato from Mr. Kraft, another win for the tomato community! -
Sevryuga is a little oxheart that maxes out at about 8 ounces. Skinny, wispy, leaf vines, produce what seems like millions of perfectly heart-shaped tomatoes that begin to ripen at around 80 days after transplant. Fruits grow in clusters of 5 or 6. I also like the hardiness of this variety. It does very well with diseases. Like most oxhearts the we grow, Sevryuga is a taste specialist. Its sweet meet and juicy flesh are perfect for tomato juice, cooking, sauces, and salsa. Early staking is a must. This tomato has taste appeal! -
Sgt Pepper's Tomato
Sgt Pepper's tomato is a member of the antho family. Plants produce the most beautiful oxhearts that are literally black on the top and deep red on the bottom end. The amount of anthology can vary depending on the level of exposure and time of year. Sgt Pepper's tomato vines are very skinny with wispy leaves. They can be as tall as 6 feet. Plants produce a high quantity of 3-6 ounce fruits that begin to ripen about 80 days after transplant. Proper staking is required! It is a sweet tomato with a hint of earthiness. There is plenty of meat too! These are perfect for fresh eating, garnishing, cooking, drying and a necessity for market sales. Its beauty and taste make it quite qualified to be in my future gardens. -
Siberian Pink Honey Tomato
Siberian Pink honey tomato is another good oxheart. I especially like this one because it's a little earlier than most of the others. Pretty pink fruits weigh about 4 to 8 ounces and ripen after 72 days or so. Fruits are meaty, milder and sweet. Overall, it has a really nice tomato for sandwiches, salads . -
Slankards is one of the biggest oxheart varieties that we grow. Each year we harvest many fruits at are at least 1.5 pounds. Tall skinny plants produce abundant crops of pink fruits that are mostly extra large. Fruits begin to ripen about 90 days after transplant and will continue true fall. Fruits are meaty and sweet. Perfect sandwich and sauce tomato!
