Oxheart Tomatoes

If you are looking for some of the best oxheart tomatoes in the world, you have come to the right place. The oxheart tomato family is my favorite grouping. They can be found in all sizes and colors. Some, such as Curtis Cheek, Eugenia, Upstate Oxheart and Slankards, can easily exceed one pound. Others may be a beautiful mix of wonderful colors, like Sgt Peppers and Orange Russian 117. Another thing that remains true, is that most oxhearts have very fine taste and great texture.

Although they may be different in texture, taste is almost always there! Whether you want a great tomato sandwich, or  perhaps good tomato sauce, salsa specialist or just a nice tomato for slicing, oxhearts have you covered!

Feel free to browse our huge line of oxhearts and see what you come up with. We are so happy that you have chosen us! Thanks!

  • Angelina's Heart is so good that it should be a lock for any serious tomato grower. We grew it in 2015, 16, and 17, and each time, it was one of the first tomatoes to ripen in the garden. It even ripened fruits more quickly than some cherry varieties. The two biggest qualities that I like about this fruit are that they are prolific, and of course, very tasty. Fruits are between 6 and 12 ounces. True to the oxheart family, vines are tall and have wispy leaves. Their skinny bases makes it imperative that they are staked early. They are just waiting for the first rain to topple over. Meaty, sweet, and smooth is how I would describe Angelina's Heart. It will give you a full flavored experience that is hard to forget. This is another oxheart winner.
  • 80 Days! Anna Banana Russian is a smaller, oxheart variety that packs fantastic taste. Plants produce heavy crops of perfect heart shaped, yellow fruits, that can reach 6-8 ounces. Tomatoes are medium-mild, sweet, juicy and mildly fruity. Vines are skinny, tall and have wispy leaves. Stake well and early. One of my favorite oxhearts!

Prolific and hardy vines.
  • I planted these and did not pay them any attention until I saw the most beautiful, heart shaped fruits. Eager to know what they were, I quickly looked at to tags which read "Beauty Queen Heart tomato". This gem is definitely worth growing in any tomato garden. 6 ounce, red and yellow bi-color fruits, grow in clusters of 4 or 5 and keep coming all season long. Our vines grew about 6 feet tall in direct sunlight and produced plenty of fruits that will turn heads. Texture is very smooth and fruit-like. It's a great tomato for slicing in salads, garnishing, fresh eating, cooking and more. Very nice aroma too when well ripened!
  • Berkley Tie Dye Heart Tomato

A very pretty cultivar, Berkley Tie Dye Heart tomato is so much fun to grow. Our regular leafed plants were about 5 feet tall and produced perfect, bi-colored green and purple, perfect and blunt oxhearts. All of which were tasty! These remained prolific all season long. As far as taste, these were earthy, sweetish and satisfying. Awesome aroma! I loved the texture! Really good choice for sandwiches, garnish, cooking and snacking right off the plant. 75-80 days to first ripened fruits!

Plants need to be staked early because fines are skinny and produce plenty fruits! as seedlings, they tend to fall over, even with light drizzle or wind. plants have good disease resistance and will produce until frost. Tomato are very good. They are juicy, fleshy, aromatic, have great texture. This is a great all around tomato!
  • Brad's Black Heart tomato is another one that surprised me in 2017. Wispy, 5-6 foot vins produce a surprising amount darkened colored, blunt oxhearts, that could reach 1 pound. My first taste test with these was very pleasing. I found that they were full flavored, with nice balance of juice, sugars and tang. There was also something else that I am yet to place my finger on. It was all good though! Our plants produced well into fall without any signs of diseases.

  • Cancelmo Family Heirloom

Anyone who knows me would tell you that oxhearts are my favorite family of tomatoes. There are very few that I don't like. I have had Cancelmo Family Heirloom tomato seeds in my thoughts for years but I never grew them out until 2019. What I discovered is that these have totally lived up to the good reputation of pink oxhearts. Very flavorful, tasty and mild, these have excellent texture and plenty meat. They are not as large as some of the others, but they are not too small either. Ours averaged 10-14 ounces., some were around 8 and we did have a few that were about 1 pound.  Skinny vines are prolific producers and will produce until frost.  A very nice canning, sandwich, market tomato.  Dont forget to stake well. Try these, you'll love them.

  • CJ Russian Tomato

    $2.75$3.75
CJ Russian is another new oxheart for us in 2021. I like these not only because of their good flavor but they proved to be a huge producer and very dependable variety for us. Plants were very prolific vibrant and hardy when some others were struggling. We got tons of these and I am grateful! Fruits are a pretty pink with little to no cracking, regardless of the weather. Taste is rich and mild. CJ Russian slices very nicely for sandwiches, plating etc. This tomato would shine as a sauce variety or even for canning when cut in halves or quarters. Great variety if you have a smaller garden and want bigger crops.
  • One of the first dwarfs that I ever grew in containers, I enjoyed growing and eating Coastal Pride Orange so much that I literally recommended them to everyone. A big attractor for me was the 3 to 4 ft vine, beautiful rugose leaf foliage, and very pretty deep orange ripened fruits. Vines are not excessively prolific but they aren't slouches either. They produce a good amount of fruits that ripen in about 80 days. In some ways, Costal Pride Orange reminds me of Dad's Sunset or even Amish Gold Slicer, just on a shorter vine.  Tomatoes are sweetish, meaty, medium-mild, and delicious. There is also a nice aroma to them when they are fully ripened. Containers or in-the-ground planting both work excellently. Some staking would be helpful.
  • Coeur de Surpriz Tomato

One of my biggest regrets in 2019 is that I didn't grow enough Coeur de Surpriz tomato plants. I grew out 4 plants and 3 of them were drowned in the flood waters in mid-June. When the remaining plant finally started ripening its fruits, I was amazed at how beautiful they were. Not wanting to eat many, in order to maximize my seed count, I tried a few. Then a few more, and more. Eventually I only saved fruits from half of the plant. These were sweet and fruity with a little tang. Very good little tomato! Bi-colored outside and out. Good choice for fresh eating, salads, garnish, dehydrating, fresh salsa, canning and more. Nice all purpose variety. Might I say again, very, very good!

Similar to Orange Russian 117, this oxheart variety is certainly worth growing. vines produce plenty 4-10 ounce beefsteaks that are mostly yellow inside, with some pink/red marbling. Fruits are sweet, meaty, have great texture and some underlying fruitiness. You can expect your first ripened tomatoes around the 80 day mark. Proper staking can certainly help. Perfect variety for sandwiches, sauces, market sales, fresh eating, cooking and garnishing. Truthfully, you can do anything with Desdemona's Heart! Vines have shown good disease resistance in our gardens.

This variety is perfect for dark, sweet sauces, canning, cooking and more. Also a very nice snack in the garden. If you grow in smaller gardens or containers, these will work excellently. A few fruits were more elongated than heart shaped. I recommend 4-5 gallon containers or larger! I really loved these for sauces and cooking with.
  • Without a doubt, Dwarf Golden Heart tomato is one of the most prolific dwarf varieties that you'll ever find. Additionally, the fruits are very tasty. Growing to about 3 feet tall, rugose leaf plants are early to set bloom and fruit. Perfectly heart shaped, canary yellow tomatoes begin to ripen about 72 days after transplant. Some staking is necessary because of the quantity of its production. Tomatoes are sweet but milder, very juicy, with nice texture. These will also do well in 5 gallon containers. • Don't let the name fool you, there is nothing sneaky about what Dwarf Sneaky Sauce tomato does. When this gem cooks down, it makes some thick , balanced sauce. It needs very little seasoning to make great dishes. So if you are a bad cook, start with these. Sauce making is not all that good about this tomato. It also makes great salsa, stews and is a good canner too!  Shelf life is pretty good but not exceptional. As it pertains to taste, it is mild, sweeter and meaty. Production is good but not exceptional, so plant one or two extra plants and you will have a guaranteed awesome sauce tomato! 2-3 feet tall plants! As a side note, I made some great tomato bisque with these!
  • Dwarf Speckled Heart Tomato

A high producer, you will be very pleased with Dwarf Speckled Heart tomato. Short 3 feet tall plants have regular and rugose leaves. They produce perfectly heart shaped, red and yellowish 3-6 ounce fruits. These need to be staked or tied up because plants get very heavy with fruits. Taste is on the sweet but milder side with good texture. Very beautiful head turners that would work well in containers, with care. 70 days to first ripened fruits.
