Purple Dog Creek Tomato

Purple Dog Creek  tomato is a big and meaty, slicer that I feel every tomato grower should have in their garden. Contrary to its name, it’s not a purple tomato.  Rather, it is deep pink.  Nonetheless, it’s still a fine tasting tomato!  It’s certainly one of my long time favorites!

Purple Dog Creek Tomato Plants

Purple Dog Creek tomato vines are  regular leaf, tall and produces a good amount of fruits that average between 10-16 ounces.  Often, some are bigger.  Plants are also very vibrant and always ready to go, even as seedlings.   Fruits begin to ripen about 85 days after transplant.  So it’s not the earliest or latest variety to ripen.

Purple Dog Creek Tomato Taste

If you need a very good and reliable tomato for your sandwiches or perhaps fresh sauce, Purple Dog Creek tomato is certainly one that you can turn to.  It’s dense, meaty, sweet with a good balance and old time tomato flavor.  No matter how you choose to use this tomato, it can probably handle every bit of it.
I slice mine and sprinkle a little grounded black pepper on it.  Fabulous!!
