Melissa The Caucasian Shepherd Tomato

Melissa The Caucasian Shepherd Tomato

Melissa The Caucasian Shepherd Tomato

Melissa The Caucasian Shepherd tomato is a beautiful red beefsteak that I first grew in 2017. Bred by my friend Ruslan Doohov, this tomato was given it’s name after his Caucasian Shepherd dog, which passed away. His dog protected the entire garden.

Melissa’s Vines

Melissa’s vines are about 5-6 feet tall and hardy. We transplanted these later, perhaps end of May to mid-June. They did wonderfully! There was never any signs of diseases. Vines produced a really nice amount of bright red, 16-24 oz tomatoes that grew in clusters of 3 or 4.  This is truly one of my favorites!

Taste And Uses

Melissa The Caucasian Shepherd tomato is fruity sweet and rich. It’s juicy too but not excessively. This is a sandwich tomato for sure. It is a great tomato for fresh eating and cooking. It would make some good, sweeter sauce too!
