Lucid Gem Tomato

Lucid Gem Tomato

The Lucid Gem tomato  is one of the most beautiful tomatoes that you will ever grow.  It also happens to be a very delicious fruit.  I am usually skeptical about all of the new anthocyanin cultivars that have been popping up in the last 5 years or so.  Many of them have not lived up to my expectations, but Lucid Gem tomatoes are as tasty as they are beautiful.

Lucid Gem Tomato Vines

Lucid Gem  Tomato vines are skinny and dark.  They produce tons and tons of blooms and just as many fruit.  All of my vines have been very prolific.  I especially loved how they held up to diseases, just to keep producing.  Ripened fruits are deep purple around the tops and getting lighter on the sides, then fade into a beautiful canary yellow towards the bottom.  The natural blend of these colors totally brings your summer garden to life!

How Do Lucid Gem Tomatoes Taste?

Lucid Gem tomatoes taste very earthy.  Related to Blue Beauty tomato, these gems have a lot of juice which reminds me of good fruit wine.  A nice amount of acidity is also present but not dominant. This is a good tasting tomato, that will be perfect for sandwiches, sauces, drying and fresh eating.  When sliced, Lucid Gem displays a beautiful marbling of pinks and yellows that just makes you want to take a big bite.  I did, it was great!  I especially recommend this one for growers who like novelty varieties.
