Burakar’s Favorite Tomato
Buraker’s Favorite Tomato
Absolutely one of my favorite tomatoes in 2017, I am stunned that I hadn’t grown Buraker’s favorite tomato, before. It is superb and a very hard worker. If you like huge bi-color tomatoes, you should try this one!
Buraker’s Favorite vines are no taller than Gold Medal or Striped German, all of which grow to about 6 feet tall. All of these are also great tasting tomatoes. Buraker’s though, is a little bit earlier than both. Ripening about 80 days after transplant, indeterminate vines do well with extreme heat and did well with diseases. I did spray once, earlier in season with Serenade fungicide. You can expect tomatoes as big as two pounds so staking is imperative. Get your sandwich materials ready!
If you want a sweet tomato, you’ve got it right here! Buraker’s is very sweet, with nice juicy meat, when well ripened. This is a great sandwich tomato. it would also be perfect for sauces, garnishing and fresh eating.
6 weeks before last frost
Cage, stake or trellis
Green Thumb Tip
Sow seeds indoors ¼” deep. Tomatoes are sensitive to freezing temperatures, so wait to transplant outdoors until the soil is warm. Plant in full sun.
